POSITION SUMMARY: The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in supporting pharmacy operations across a variety of responsibilities in our critical access hospital setting. This position is responsible for sterile compounding (including IV preparation), medication delivery to patient care areas, inventory management, purchasing support, and assisting with 340B program audits and compliance. Given the size of our facility, your expertise will be utilized in multiple facets of pharmacy operations, offering a dynamic and hands-on work environment. The technician collaborates closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality medication use throughout the hospital.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ensure accurate and timely medication preparation and distribution in compliance with hospital policy and regulatory standards
Assist in maintaining medication records and documentation to support accountability and transparency
Support medication safety practices through open communication and attention to detail

Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded products, including IV admixtures, using aseptic technique in compliance with USP <797>
Conduct regular 340B audits to ensure compliance with program regulations and optimize cost savings
Support inventory control, purchasing, and receiving activities
Perform monthly inspections of medication storage areas and automated dispensing cabinets

Collaborate with pharmacists and nursing staff to optimize workflow and medication delivery systems
Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency in inpatient medication handling and distribution
Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technology and systems that support pharmacy operations

Communicate clearly and professionally with pharmacists, providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program
Required Licensure:
Washington State Pharmacy Technician License in good standing
Specialty Certification:
Sterile Compounding certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months preferred)
Required Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience in a hospital or health-system pharmacy setting
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficient in sterile compounding, medication distribution systems, and inventory management
Effective communication and teamwork
Familiarity with pharmacy automation and EMR systems (e.g., Epic preferred)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office and clinical settings with potential exposure to patient care areas.
Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
May require occasional travel between facility locations.
